A Flood Alert has been issued by the Environment Agency.
Flood Alert in force: River Rother and its tributaries from Turks Bridge to the Royal Military Canal, currently only expected to affect low lying areas, property flooding is not expected.
Flooding is possible for: River Rother and its tributaries from Turks Bridge to the Royal Military Canal, including Crowhurst Bridge, Etchingham, Robertsbridge, Salehurst and Bodiam.
River levels are rising as a result of heavy rainfall during the day today, Thursday 22 February. We expect flooding to affect low lying land and roads along the River Rother, particularly in the Crowhurst and Etchingham areas from 9pm this evening. Flooding of properties is not expected. Rainfall is expected to clear this evening but with further showers into Friday 23 February. We expect river levels to peak in the Etchingham and Robertsbridge area early on Friday morning and will remain high until later on Friday evening. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please avoid using low lying footpaths near local watercourses. This message will be updated by 9am on Friday 23 February, or as the situation changes.
